About Tracey Elwood

I've enjoyed working in London for over 25 years, mainly in the events sector. I am hugely grateful to all my mentors - great bosses who gave me their wisdom and support. This has ultimately rubbed off and I have gained a diverse amount of experience within the business world. I worked for Macmillan Publishers, BBC, DRSM (Marketing), University of Westminster and finally at Kuwait Investment Office.
Luckily I have been with Karl for 20 years, being married to him for 16 of those and so by osmosis I have gained a wealth of knowledge regarding wine. Karl has always brought his work home into our kitchen and I have eagerly enjoyed matching my food with his wine. Dinner parties for me are really the thing - especially with great company and a decent bottle of wine to match a fantastic dish or two.
Being a busy mother of 3 children under the age of 5, it's always a challenge to juggle work with family life but it has been so rewarding for me to see elwood wines grow and flourish - it's almost been like another baby for me to nurture.
When we set up elwood wines in October 2008, I took the whole business thing on with gusto. Karl and I stayed up many nights and worked throughout the days planning, organising and talking about `what do people like about wine', we knew ourselves but not everyone has my Karl..... so, what came out of all of this was that Karl is the knowledgeable one about wine and should pass on this lovely wisdom - I knew how to organise and that's where our roles were formed. I'm the planning, marketing, organising bit with a little website knowledge (aided by a clever designer/programmer) and Karl's the oracle in wine and that's how we've formed.
Earlier this year (January 2010) I embarked on the beginning of my professional wine training career and obtained a Merit in the WSET Intermediate Course. In 2011 I will take the next step up in my training and complete the Advanced Level at WSET and I cannot wait! These courses are amazing and just highlight how much and how important wine is to me.
My motto: `If you have a good glass filled with fabulous wine, fantastic company and a wonderful meal, enjoy and let's do it all over again tomorrow - the party's on!'
