There's a great story to tell about how this wine came into the UK, but too long to write it here, so give Karl a call if you're curious. This estate in the Tuscan countryside was a great discovery. Only a few cases were ever shipped to the UK and as far as we could tell, that's all that is available. This wine is produced mainly from old vine Sangiovese, with a little Merlot. It is still very deep in colour, with a lovely meaty, ripe and concentrated nose. There is a great depth of fruit on the palate too with an appealing elegance, thanks to the benign tannins. I suspect this wine has the potential to age for a few more years yet, but this rare Italian wine hits way above its weight.
