Finca La Colonia Malbec 2010, Bodega Norton, Mendoza
Bodega Norton was founded in 1895 in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes by an English engineer, Edmund J.P. Norton who had been working on the Buenos Aires to Mendoza railway. Edmund Norton recognized the special nature of this area, located at the highest point of the Mendoza river valley and started to plant vineyards at altitudes ranging between 850 and 1,100 metres above sea level with vines imported from France. Finca La Colonia, named after one of Norton's vineyards, is a delightful range of unoaked varietals expressing fruit and freshness. This Malbec has sweet and spicy aromas, reminiscent of black pepper. Ripe red fruit on the palate, smooth texture and a harmonious finish. Great value, every-day drinking.
