Vasse Felix Chardonnay 2009, Margaret River, Western Austrlia
This elegant Chardonnay has complex, fragrant aromas with lovely biscuit characters and hints of lemon with subtle vanilla and butterscotch on the finish. The oak is beautifully integrated, so the wine arrives vibrant and fresh on the palate, with a beautiful silky texture and hints of citrus, stone fruit and biscuit.
Vasse Felix was the first commercial winery to be established in Margaret River, in 1967, following the agronomist Dr John Gladstone's encouraging research into the region's suitability. Others followed, and Margaret River now has an international reputation for fine wine, typically combining ripe Australian fruit with elegant European structure. Vasse Felix was bought by the Holmes à Court family in 1987, and they have continued to invest in its success; a new winery was completed in time for the 1999 harvest, helping Vasse Felix maintain its position among the very finest wineries in Western Australia
